I am Balraj Ganta, country Head for Nigeria operations. I have an experience of almost 21 years in office automation Industry.
What do you do at Altech Technologies Limited?
Formerly Altech Sfico Limited but now Altech Technologies limited, it’s a 100% subsidiary of Altech International FZW Dubai. Altech International is the master distributer for Sharp products in Middle East and Africa. Altech have presence in almost 30 countries with 15 years of experience in office automation industry.
Altech Technologies Limited focus preferably on Graphic segment/Print segment with Sharp Digital production machines for sales and service. Altech Technologies have accessible office in Lagos with trained engineers for immediate service with all the spares availability.
What aspect of printing do you specialize in, and have your strength?
Sharp is having a specialized Graphic production machine, which is ideal for Graphic segment and print shops. There are two models namely Sharp Polaris MX 6500 (65 ppm) and MX -7500 (75ppm). Sharp is also having low end models for small print shops from 30 to 50 ppm speed.
The print quality is 1200X1200 dpi with saddle stitch finishing, duplex printing, scanning and copying functions. It can take 60 to 300 gsm paper.
What is your background in the print business?
Altech technologies have 15years experience in this field; also we have been present in Nigeria since the last 15years through our partners. We have been directly present in Nigeria for 2years handling Graphic print segment.
Can you tell us more about your products and services?
We are dealing with Sharp Graphic DI machines, Intec Graphic printing machines (specialized in envelope printing and 500 gsm paper) and Duplo finishing products (collators, folding, perfect binding, cutter/slitter and creaser). These services are given directly by Altech in Nigeria.
What is the uniqueness of sharp products?
Our specialty is quality and service. Prompt service with genuine spares and trained expert engineers for heavy duty graphic machines.
What are your motivating factors for venturing into the print industry?
Nigeria has always been a big market in Graphic segment. This place is an ideal place for any suppliers to market the printing machines in Graphic segment.
Tell us about your experiences so far in the field?
So far the experience has been good, we have been getting very good response from the Graphic segment, we have as well gotten couple of good installations in graphic segment.
What would you say has been your greatest challenges operating in the industry so far?
Presently since the last one year the main challenges have been on the issue of dollar vs. Naira and the entire Political scenario.
What do you have to say to printers/print shop owners and our amiable readers?
This is the right time to shift from offset to Digital Graphic printers, as the entire world is going towards DI. The advantages of DI is less investment, very low operating cost, instant printing, fast delivery, sharp quality, low power consumption, reduces labour cost and so many other advantages that aids production and services.
