Mr. Zed Sheikh, Director of Clifton Packaging Group Ltd UK
Mr. Zed Sheikh, Director of Clifton Packaging Group Ltd UK exhibited at the trade show, in our brief interview with him he stated that they have been established in the UK for 35years but have now come to Nigeria to produce the good products they manufacture also in Nigeria for many of the food processing companies in Nigeria and everyone knows that Nigeria is the fastest growing and the biggest country in Africa when it comes to population, this is where it’s all happening.
He further stated “we are very globally active so if we are not in Nigeria we can’t say we are global and of course we have come to introduce effective products to a range of innovative course to empower many of the growers and the added value full chain. Our expertise teaches how to make something dry wet and make money, this is what we are here to do, and we are in Nigeria to empower knowledge. We will do some KIP (knowledge Is Power) and convert that into CIP (cash In Pocket). We will produce products here, package them very well and export them to many of the foreign countries.
We have also brought the initiative called BABA to Nigeria, BABA means Buy Africa Build Africa. By the grace of God I hope that we will be able to achieve all of this initiatives concerning BABA, instead of sending the
dollars out we will bring them in, we will brand some of the Nigerian products with the Nigerian produced or Nigerian productions. We will bring manufacturing to Nigeria from Europe; it’s a dream that is realizable because we are passionate in what we believe in, we are Africans born in Uganda, we understand we can’t speak all the languages because it’s too many to learn, but we will manage to find a man who knows a man who will help us (laughs). We are already working on our manufacturing site in Nigeria; we will assemble the machineries here, it is difficult to import machines because it’s a huge market and cost will be high so we want it manufactured here and be more cost effective’’.
We have plans for SME’s, many of them visit our booth since the last two days and we plan to take them under our wings, empower them with their initiatives to keep their pocket high.
Finally, talking about my experience as an exhibitor, I will say you have to create your own destiny here; it’s not an exhibition with Nigeria’s multinationals and the serious buyers. It’s our first time here and we had to create something from nothing otherwise you just sit here all day and nothing will happen, so I think the organisers need to understand how to get the job done here by engaging serious buyers and multinationals. So far, I am faring very well here because I have read the book on how to become a Nigerian and have insight into Nigeria.
